Dear Editor,

Following my recent comments on social media regarding the air pollution resulting from the welding site in close proximity to the National Stadium Swimming Pool, I am very appreciative of the swift response by Major Desmond Brown and the local media for highlighting the issue of keeping the National Pool area safe for all users.

I am passionate about Jamaica’s athletes and the energies they put into representing our country. I am also conscious of potential health and safety risks for everyone who chooses to use the facility. Not only swimmers but netball and basketball athletes, parents, coaches, lifeguards, vendors and all staff of the stadium are equally negatively affected as they are all in close proximity to the plant.

In light of this, I am petitioning for permanent removal of the welding site from the pool area to a more conducive place on the stadium grounds with very little hindrance to the workflow that I understand is necessary for the wielding plant.

In light of the inherent costs associated with this effort, I am open to providing financial assistance to the relevant authority to relocate this very offensive welding plant.

Finally, I send positive vibes to the hard workers and dedicated volunteers at the National Stadium and the athletes who continue to make our nation proud.

Sincerely, Sean Paul

Multi-platinum, Grammy Award winning artiste Sean Paul is still hitting firsts after more than two decades in the industry as he announces the release of his first ever Extended Play (EP) EP Mad Love The Prequel which was released Friday, June 29.

Mad Love The Prequel was put together with a flow of tunes that create a certain vibe; partying, love, relationships, me and the girls,” Sean Paul shares lightheartedly.

The nine-track EP speaks greatly to the appeal and reach of Sean Paul’s music over the years as he collaborates with other international artistes such as English singer Ellie Goulding, famously known for the 50 Shades of Grey theme song Love Me Like You Do, The Worst singer Jhene Aiko, and Hurtin Me rapper Stefflon Don, among others.

Major Lazer, had only great things to say about Sean Paul, having worked with him, once again, for their Tip Pon It collab which is featured on the EP: “Sean's been killing it for 20 years. Some of the most iconic Major Lazer songs are ones we made with him. Glad we got to be part of his movement.”

Sean Paul, who was recently presented with a plaque from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for selling a staggering 26 million records, has been enjoying an unbroken string of massive hit singles in the past two years, most recently with the single Body featuring Atlanta superstars Migos which was the follow up to the worldwide hit No Lie featuring Dua Lipa. Add Tek Weh Yuh Heart with Tory Lanez, and the Clean Bandit collaboration Rockabye, which spent nine weeks at number one in the UK charts and, of course, his Grammy nominated #1 Billboard, global smash with Sia on Cheap Thrills, and it is fair to say that the reggae superstar has rarely been away from the higher reaches of the charts.

This July, Sean Paul will blaze stages in Canada with shows in Chicoutimi, Kitchener, Rimouski and Pointe Calumet.
